Last Wednesday, we held our Hike for Home-Start Cotswolds. We had a wonderful day and would like to thank everyone who came along to support us. We are delighted to report that we raised over £3000, an amazing total that will make a real difference to our work supporting local families with young children.

Just over 100 walkers joined us, taking in the beautiful countryside, in and around Calmsden. The sun was shining, the wildlife was in abundance, and we even had the pleasure of watching a daredevil wing-walker in the sky overhead! Our sincere thanks go to Calmsden Farms for a beautiful walking route and allowing us access to their land.

In terms of our base for the day, we were kindly hosted by the Old Gore (yardspace.co.uk). The Old Gore is such a special venue, and it looked particularly beautiful in the sunshine. Yard Space very kindly donated the venue, refreshments and lunch, which meant that every £ of ticket sales came directly to us!  After the walk, around 65 supporters stayed to enjoy a well-deserved lunch, all cooked and prepared by the chefs at the Old Gore. Our sincere thanks to the entire Yard Space team for looking after us so incredibly well, and for supporting our charity so generously.

In addition to the walk, we also held a raffle that added £600 to our total, with prizes generously donated by local businesses including Vanessa Arbuthnott Fabrics, Jesse Smith, Sue Parkinson Home, Biggie Best, French Grey, Moonstruck and Coln Community Stores. Thank you, our 4 winners were delighted with their hampers!

“It was absolutely wonderful to see so many familiar faces, volunteers, supporters and walkers who had been to many of our Hikes over the years. It was also great to welcome newcomers too, and to be able to tell them about the work we do” commented our Service Manager, Katharine Campbell.  She added “events like these not only raise vital funds but also help spread awareness about the work we do, and the generosity of so many helped us to raise so much, we are delighted!”

Thank you to everyone who made the event such a success – with a special mention to Carolyn (our Trustee) and Nicholas, who both put in so much time and effort to make it happen!  The day was a wonderful reminder of the amazing community we are part of, we really appreciate the support of so many.
