Last week we held some training for our volunteers around ‘school readiness’.  Liz, our Family Coordinator, spent the morning presenting Home-Start’s ‘Big Hopes, Big Future’ programme, which seeks to support parents getting their child ready for the transition from home to nursery and school.

Liz said “It was lovely to see our volunteers together, full of enthusiasm as always.  They shared some great examples so we could all better understand how to support our families with school readiness. They particularly liked the strength-based approach, learning all about the different questioning techniques they may use to support a family, helping and encouraging them to come up with their own solutions to an issue” she continued “and we have such a lovely team of volunteers, it’s always nice for us to be in the same room together and catch up over a coffee and piece of homemade cake!”

Thanks to everyone who came along and helped make the training such a success (and Katharine who made the chocolate cake!).
