We were over the moon that so many happy hikers joined us for our walk on Wed 15th September around the Windrush Valley. Around 80 people came and enjoyed the beautiful countryside and we were lucky to have glorious weather accompany us throughout!
It was wonderful to be able to use the beautiful Stone Barn as a base (thank you again to Felicity and Mark Henriques of Cripps and Co.). Everyone enjoyed themselves and we have had lots of favourable feedback. Although the aim of the event is as much to publicise our work as it is to raise funds, we are delighted to report that we raised over £1,500!
Many of the hikers said it was a real treat to walk on land that is not normally accessible to the public. For this, we would like to thank the local landowners who gave us permission to do so. One landowner commented: ‘What a difference you are making in helping to alleviate family problems and hardships at a real local level. So good to see long term issues being addressed. Thank you for inviting me to be part of something so positive.’
Many thanks to Relish Food Events for their yummy cakes and to Waitrose Cirencester for the refreshments that they kindly provided. Additional thanks to those who did such a great job organising the entire operation and, of course, to all the walkers who supported the event. To see more photos from the day, go to our Gallery.
